JOB SKILLS. TRANSFERABLE SKILLS. ADAPTIVE SKILLS. Um, what?! If you’re not sure what these different skills are or how they relate to your resume and cover letter, this workshop is a great fit for you. Sharpen your resume and cover letter knowledge by participating in this interactive workshop. You’ll receive general tips and tricks about the development of your professional documents, learn how to personalize these to fit your unique style, and increase your understanding of the content you should (or should not) include in your resume and cover letter.

The presentation is designed to offer an introduction to the development of a professional resume and cover letter. Participants will complete a resume brainstorming activity, be quizzed on their resume knowledge, and gain an understanding of essential cover letter aspects. The entire presentation should require approximately 60 minutes to facilitate.

Students who participate in today’s workshop will:

  • Develop the basics of their personalized resume
  • Sharpen their resume and cover letter writing knowledge
  • Increase their understanding of cover letter content

Are you clueless about how to find a job or an internship? Do you feel anxious about the interview process? This workshop will help demystify the job search process and help prepare you for the job interview. Participants will explore resources to create a job search plan for a successful job/internship search. Participants will also be able to identify tips to be prepared before, during and after the interview.

The purpose of this workshop is to assist participants in create a plan to conquer the job search process and provide tips for interviewing. The whole presentation should require approximately 60 minutes to facilitate.

By completing this workshop, students will:

  • Identify at least two resources for internship/job searching
  • Practice using STAR method to answer interview questions
  • Understand the professional culture of internship/job interviews

Have you ever heard the saying, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know?" Well, that is often times true, but the statement should be edited to say, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know, and what they know about you!" This workshop will cover networking basics and give students the opportunity to develop an elevator pitch and discuss how to utilize LinkedIn and informational interviews for networking success.

The presentation is designed to offer an introduction to the concept of professional networking. Participants will complete a networking worksheet and elevator pitch activity. Allow at least five minutes for both activities. The whole presentation should require approximately 60 minutes to facilitate.

Students who participate in today’s workshop will:

  • Identify at least 2 ways to begin developing their professional network
  • Develop a 30 second elevator pitch for networking
  • Understand online platforms for networking

Participants will learn about the Career Center for Life Calling's core services. They will learn how to engage with the CCLC through 1-on-1 type services, along with the robust calendar of events and workshops offered throughout the year.

This CCLC Overview can be personalized to meet your specific needs, and could range from even 5-20 minutes. Whether presenting at the beginning of your class or in conjunction with your next student organization team meeting, we'd love to share our resources with you.
